|Sometimes I find it hard to find good art pieces that I love. I know art is subjective, but a lot of times after seeing paintings, I’m left with an unresolved feeling. Either I like it, or I don’t…but I barely ever find myself saying “now THAT, I love”. Until I found these on A Perfect Gray. I fell more and more in love as I scrolled down.Page Laughlin, an artist from North Carolina, paints these beautiful pieces featuring interiors, that at first glance, don’t really seem like interior spaces until you really observe the painting. Here are a few of her pieces, and below, her statement.
“In the subject matter of my paintings, things are often not quite what they seem: lovely interiors, on closer consideration, lead to disquieting seduction; wallpaper details, luscious statuary….
|For about eight years, I have been examining fantasies presented in popular magazines. Currently, my paintings are based on photographs of interiors from high-end shelter magazines. These interiors present us with a fantasy of materialist beauty.” – Page Laughlin|
