Here’s Ta-Ze, a sweet little olive oil shop designed by Burdifilek, here in Toronto. I love the olive tree branches and leaves graphics on the wall and the thin framed shelving on the. The mosaic flooring is equally stunning. Clean and fresh is where it’s at! It also helps that the packaging is lovely as well!

Hello Friends!

My it’s been ages! I’ve been so busy I don’t even know where to start. My latest adventure was working as a production designer for Sunday Afternoon Productions, on a project called So Nice To Love You, which of course I will share with you all when it’s completed. It’s so much fun being part of an incredible team, I have to say. Working on this project has opened a whole new world of set design I hadn’t really considered. Besides for the incredibly long hours and the fact the the craft tables (where all the yummy foods for the crew and cast are) are just so conveniently full of yummy foods that I probably gained a few pounds, I could see myself doing it!

So for now, I want to share with you a project I worked on a while back. A dance studio/programming space for a library here in Toronto. Low ceilings and space constraints were quite the challenge, but a fun space for the community to be able to work on their artistic creations. Enjoy!

Here is part 2 of my weekend updates, which started here at the Interior Design Show, Friday afternoon. It was all there, from died recycled persian rugs, to Union Jacks, shiny faucets and bright lights, and one sexy Audi A7. Here are some of my favourites. Enjoy!

PS. Again, if you would like any info on any pic. Just let me know =)

Once in a while, I’m reminded how awesome my city is. We have so much talent and excitement that it makes me proud to be a Torontonian. But cutting the gushy stuff, here are the top activities this weekend that will make this one a fun experience, for sure! Click on the links below to get more info on these events!

In a couple of hours, I will be attending the Interior Design Show, a design fair where I can get tons of great ideas and inspiration!

Next up is Winterlicious! A biannual event (the other one being called Summerlicious) where restaurants offer delicious prix-fixe three-course meals. Tonight, I’m so excited to be going to Archeo in the Distillery District. Banana bread pudding with caramel anglaise for dessert, here I come!

On Saturday, I will be checking out Capacity at Bookhou, where I will be checking out works of local industrial, graphic, textile and product designers!

And for the grand finale on Sunday, The Gladstone Hotel‘s Come Up To My Room event. 11 room installations, 14 public space projects, and 44 artists and designers equals a whole lot of excitement.

If I have missed anything, do tell. I’ll try to squeeze it in! Hope you all have an equally exciting weekend, friends! xo

I’m so excited guys! My secret love affair with bowling (insert a nerdy laugh and an index finger glasses adjustment) just got that much better. A new hangout spot in the Entertainment District in Toronto, The Ballroom, has just opened. A fancy pants bowling alley, food and beverage provider - hands down the nicest one I’ve seen in a long time, and I can’t wait to hit it up and get some strikes. Who’s with me?!

Over the break, I also re-visited an amazing lounge called the Foundation Room, where I spent an amazing time ringing in the New Years with my friends. I always wondered who designed this place. And of course, it was none other than Alessandro Munge, again, from Munge Leung (who designed the space I blogged about, yesterday). Should of known. Because similarly to Ame, it is beautifully designed in Moroccan inspired furniture and decor with a hint of contemporary class. Gorgeous.

Hello, friends! I can’t believe we’re already into “twenty-eleven”. This past holiday break really flew by! I hope you had as much fun as I did! 2010 has been a very interesting year for me to say the least. And all I have to say to 2011 is: bring it.

Over the break, I had a chance to go to this post’s restaurant, Ame, designed by Munge Leung here in Toronto. It is an amazing mix of asian meets contemporary. It’s black leather, polished concrete flooring, limestone, iron, and wood plank ceilings mixed with colourful silk kimono fabrics strewn throughout make for a visual impact almost strong enough to challenge your food experience. While the images don’t really do it justice, I thought I’d post it anyway, just so it can tickle your senses and maybe convince you to check it out, in person.

Whenever I look at pictures of homes I really like, I always say “ooooh I so want to live there!!”. But when I saw this picture, I died a little. And then said “ooooh I sooo want to live there!!”. But actually. This place screams ‘me’. Minus the purple, but minor details really. It’s the absolute perfect combination between a modern, hard loft and feminine design, all together, in one joyous unison.

Here’s where it gets depressing. Do you know how much a space like this would cost in Toronto?? So. Does anyone know how much the lotto is going for this week?

Bon weekend, les amis! xo

I dabbled at the One of a Kind Show this weekend, in Toronto. Surprisingly, it was my first time ever going, so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I’m not going to lie, there were some pretty questionable things. But there were also a few booths that I absolutely fell in love with, that definitely made my experience worth while. Although the show is over, their products are still available online and would make for perfect Christmas presents. Here they are.

Jenna Rose.

I really liked these screen printed textiles, especially the throw pillows and the dish towels. Each design is hand drawn from daily inspiration and they translate so well into prints. Very sweet.

Ceramik B.

Absolutely lovely ceramics. Simple, organic and soft to the touch bowls, plates, cups and much more. Each object, is coloured in a perfect hue of natural beiges and greys, which I love. And, they are perfectly suitable for dishwashers and microwaves, despite their fragile demeanour.

pi’lo.

Really cute handmade objects for your home. Everything made me smile. From the pillows, notebooks and pencil cases that look like lined paper, the alphabets printed on throw pillows and wall art, and lovely canvases with little 3D objects on them. Perfect for a children’s bedroom.

My camera decided to put up a fight towards the end of my OOAK journey, so the picture-taking had to stop. But I highly recommend you check out these next few links too!

Ossington Ave., here in Toronto has boomed with excitement over the past two years, at least. New great restaurants, bars and shops. And the Ministry of the Interior. A very cool furniture, accessories, lighting store and part-time gallery for artists and designers. Although I’ve only been there a few times, I’m always left excited and inspired. Oh the possibilities! So, I just had to share.

My weekly pick? An absolutely gorgeous, super simple and slender desk. One word. Gimme!
